Southamerican Football Association 'CONMEBOL' assigned 4 plus 1 starting slots for the 2006 tournament in Germany. The Qualifiers had been affected by the dominant performance of the two World Cup veterans Brasil and Argentina. The selecao lost only two of their qualifiers and being the titelholders they should be once more top seeded for the title. A possible 5th starting slot for the southamerica group could be gained by Uruguay who will have to play off over two legs against Austalia (winners of Oceania Zone). (more)
